We started SunUp because we believe in the life-changing potential of CBD as a health supplement.
SunUp’s mission is to provide our communities with high quality, organically grown, CBD products while providing clarity in an industry that is all too often confusing and ambiguous.
Below we've covered the CBD basics and the most commonly asked questions but we encourage you to visit our FAQ's page and newsletter for even more info.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD is non-psychoactive, which means it does not cause one to “get high.” There’s a growing body of evidence that it has a number of health benefits.
Why should I take CBD?
As CBD gains popularity, the list of reported benefits seems to keep growing. The most common benefits we hear from our customers include:
- Pain Relief
- Anxiety Relief
- Sleep Pattern Regulation
Is CBD Legal?
Yes! On December 20, 2018 the President signed into law the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 ("2018 Farm Bill") which included a provision to make industrial hemp and it's derivatives federally legal. Texas quickly followed suit. On March 15th, the Commissioner of the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, signed an amendment to remove hemp from the list of controlled substances. The amendment was signed and sent to the Texas Register for and is effective as of April 7th 2019.

What should I look for to determine the quality of a CBD product?
We know, there are so many companies diving into this space and so much misinformation flying around it’s difficult for the consumer wade through it all. We usually tell people to focus on a few key things:
1) Farming — where is the hemp grown? You want hemp that is grown in the US and grown organically. Hemp grown on non-organic farms, or grown abroad, often contains heavy metals, synthetic fertilizers, and pesticides that end up in the finished product. No thank you!
2) Potency — How much CBD is in the product? Our minimum recommended dosage is ~15mg/day, depending on what you are using it for. In other words, a standard 1 ounce bottle needs to have at least 500mg of CBD. Don't buy from any companies selling less than that! Our tinctures start at 750mg for a reason
3) Third Party Testing — What testing protocols are in place? This is the MOST important thing to look for. Because the CBD space is largely unregulated at this point, lab testing is necessary to ensure a quality product. Look for lab tests ensuring potency (that the amount of CBD the company is advertising is actually in the product), heavy metals, residual solvents, and pesticides.
